20,000 tons potato storage in Canada
At the end of September 2017, two GCU-i units were sent in containers to a company in Canada growing potatoes for consumption. The Green Cool Units each provide a cooling capacity of 430 kW, with glycol as the refrigerant. The main feature of the indirect cooling system is that the temperature difference across the cooling block is kept as small as possible, which minimises the extent to which the potatoes dry out.
The storage unit comprises four cells and has energy-efficient TTR 9.40 EC fans. Intelligent control of the automatic Vision Control storage computer allows both the ventilation and the cooling system to be controlled by a single computer, which ensures optimum matching between the two systems.
