Support From Design to Installation & Beyond

Tolsma offers a fully integrated approach to designing and installing storage solutions, working closely with clients and local craftsmen. Recently, we installed various units in Australia with a focus on efficiency and energy savings, such as QCC and QML units for the storage of seed potatoes. These systems provide automated climate control and deliver benefits such as faster drying and curing of seed potatoes, improved control, and labor savings

Support From Design to Installation & Beyond

At Tolsma, we pride ourselves on our fully collaborative approach to developing new storage solutions. Our process involves working closely with clients to create a concept design that considers:

  • Designing for optimal product flow and operational efficiency
  • Ensuring compatibility with existing buildings and farm operations
  • Addressing energy supply and limitations
  • Planning for future expansion

We are involved at every stage, partnering with local trades throughout the design and construction phases to ensure a seamless project execution. By collaborating with local trades throughout the design and construction phases, we ensure that everyone is aligned with the project’s objectives and sequencing.

When our team of shed and coolroom builders, concreters, electricians, plumbers, and installation experts work together, the results are exceptional. Check out some of our latest installations to see our approach in action.

QCC40 Install New South Wales

We have recently completed the installation of two QCC40 units with Freshboxes in NSW, with the potential for adding a third unit in the future. Each room was designed to maximize the capacity of the QCC40 units, allowing for the storage of approximately 600 tons of seed potatoes per room. Due to the site's limited power availability, the QCC units are powered by a generator, while the Freshboxes, QCC PLCs, and Vision control systems are connected to a single-phase 240V power supply. The Vision control system automates the operation of both the QCC units and the generator.

Our collaborative approach facilitated seamless integration across all trades, including the installation of electrical cabling beneath the floor before pouring the concrete and pre-framing the unit and outlet hatch openings for flashing.

The client quickly filled the rooms with freshly harvested seed potatoes and completed their initial in-store drying and curing process over two weeks before lowering the temperature to 3°C for storage. Within just a few weeks of using their new on-farm storage, the client has already observed several early benefits, including:

Complete control of farm grown seed: from planting, growing, harvest and replanting

  • Seed is dried and cured much faster than leaving it in the shed without ventilation
  • Seed is dried/cured and stored in the one place, removing additional forklift movements
